Walk In Larder in a Georgian Rectory

Holt, Norfolk

Behind a small door off the kitchen of this Georgian rectory was a forgotten cold store full of old paint tins. It has been restored as a proper walk in larder.

Deep oak shelves run floor to ceiling on three sides, painted with the walls in a soft duck egg blue. A thick marble slab at worktop height keeps cheese, butter and baking cool, just as it would have two hundred years ago.

The original terracotta pamments were cleaned and resealed, and the tiny sash window was repaired so it can be opened to let the air through.
