Morningside, Edinburgh
In this sandstone villa, the narrow passage between kitchen and dining room was just somewhere to walk through. Now it is a butler's pantry that makes entertaining far easier.
Floor to ceiling cabinetry in a warm terracotta red holds glassware and china behind glazed doors, with a walnut worktop, a coffee machine and a small brass bar sink. Brass gallery rails keep bottles in place on the open shelves.
A pair of walnut pocket doors slide away into the wall, and the original encaustic tiled floor was uncovered under old lino and restored.
