Visitors to the website

You can browse The Renovation without giving us any personal information. We don't ask visitors to sign up and we don't run a newsletter.

Like any website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the page visited. This is used only to keep the site running securely and is not used to identify you.

Contacting a firm

If you use the contact form on a project page, we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, postcode, phone number if you give one, and your message. These come to us first.

With your agreement, given by ticking the box on the form, we pass your message and details to the firm you chose so they can reply to you directly. We don't use them for anything else or add you to any mailing list. We keep messages for up to 12 months, then delete them.

Cookies

The public website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies we use are strictly necessary ones for our private staff dashboard, which visitors never see.

If we add analytics or other cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Businesses we feature

We feature renovation projects by invitation. To do that we keep business information about the firms we feature or approach, such as the business name, website, social media pages, business address, phone number and email address. Most of this is publicly available, for example on the firm's own website or Google listing.

We use it to contact firms about being featured, to credit them on their project pages, and to discuss our promotion services with them. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running and promoting the showcase. Any firm can ask us to stop contacting them or to remove their details at any time.

Who we share data with

We use trusted providers to run the site: Vercel for website hosting and Supabase for our database and photo storage. They process data only on our behalf and under their own security and data protection commitments.

We never sell, rent or trade personal information.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop contacting you.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
