Bakewell, Derbyshire
In this gritstone farmhouse in the Peak District, a warren of small rooms has become one generous kitchen, dining and family space beneath the original oak beams.
The stone walls were stripped back and repointed in lime. A smoky blue grey in frame kitchen with chunky oak worktops sits on reclaimed York stone flags, around a large island topped in honed black granite.
A new black steel glazed screen opens the room onto the walled garden and the hills beyond, while a wood burner keeps the dining end warm through the winter.
