Split Level Coastal Living Space in a 1970s House

Canford Cliffs, Bournemouth

The 1970s split level layout of this house was its best feature, hidden behind dark carpet and small windows. The renovation has made it feel like a seaside home again.

The upper living area and lower dining level are now joined by three wide oak steps, with the old brick chimney wall painted white. A new full width wall of sliding glass opens both levels onto a deck among the Scots pines.

Warm oak floors, sand coloured furniture and a round marble table keep it light, with glimpses of the sea from the dining end.
