A tired kitchen at the back of this Edwardian semi has been rebuilt around one bold decision: floor to ceiling Shaker cabinetry painted a deep forest green.
The old chimney breast was opened up and its reclaimed red brick left bare, framing a black range cooker beneath a chunky painted timber canopy. A long island in the same green seats four on oak stools and hides a wine fridge at one end.
A wall of black framed glazing now looks straight onto the garden hedge, so the dark cabinetry never feels heavy. Warm oak floorboards and brass lantern pendants soften the whole room.
