Indian Sandstone Patio with Steps up to the Lawn

Plympton, Plymouth

The garden behind this 1980s house rose steeply from the back door, leaving only a narrow strip of slabs to sit on. Cutting into the bank has made room for a proper patio.

A new block retaining wall, rendered and capped, holds back the slope, with wide sandstone steps leading up to the lawn. The patio itself is laid in warm buff Indian sandstone with plenty of room for a table and a barbecue.

New drainage along the back of the house keeps the patio dry even in a Plymouth downpour.
