South Bay, Scarborough
The balcony on this second floor flat overlooking Scarborough's South Bay had rusting railings and rotten boards. It has been rebuilt so the sea view is now uninterrupted.
The old railings were replaced with toughened frameless glass panels in a stainless steel shoe, and the floor relaid in grey composite decking that will not rot in the salt air. A small bench and two planters make room for morning coffee.
The Victorian cast iron brackets underneath were kept, cleaned and repainted.
