Mansard Loft Conversion with a Hidden Roof Terrace

Canonbury, Islington

In a Georgian terrace in a conservation area, a traditional mansard roof has added a top floor bedroom suite with a private roof terrace hidden behind the parapet.

The front slope keeps the look of the street with slate and lead dormers, while at the back a glazed door opens onto a small decked terrace with views over Islington's rooftops. Inside, built in oak joinery fills the low eaves.

A large rooflight over the stairs pulls daylight right down through the house.
