Bishopston, Bristol
Filling in the narrow passage down the side of this Victorian terrace has widened the kitchen by almost two metres and given it a glass roof.
A steel beam carries the old side wall, opening the kitchen up into the new space. A long run of glazing in the sloping roof floods the room with light, and white bi fold doors at the end open onto the garden.
A new kitchen with an island and a dining table now fits comfortably where there used to be a cramped galley.
