Lansdown, Bath
The ground floor dining room of this Grade II listed townhouse had lost most of its character to decades of magnolia. Careful restoration has brought it back.
The full height panelling was repaired and painted a deep plum, with the cornice and ceiling rose recast by hand and picked out in white. The original folding shutters on the tall sash window work again for the first time in years.
A white marble fireplace, a gilt mirror and a simple brass chandelier complete a room that is now used for every family celebration.
