St Ives, Cornwall
High above the harbour, this granite fisherman's cottage had a dark kitchen at the back and a dining room nobody used. Taking down the wall between them turned two small rooms into one bright space facing the sea.
Simple plank door cabinets painted a chalky sea blue sit under scrubbed oak worktops, with a white enamel range tucked into a limewashed alcove. The worn Delabole slate floor was kept throughout.
A long oak table and a painted bench run along the window wall, so every meal comes with a view over the rooftops to the water.
