Reclaimed Brick and Oak Frame Rear Extension on a Farmhouse

Faversham, Kent

Adding to a listed Kentish farmhouse meant the new extension had to sit quietly beside the old building. Reclaimed brick and green oak were the answer.

The new garden room is built from soft red reclaimed bricks with a pitched clay tile roof, and its gable end is a full height oak frame filled with glass. Inside, the oak trusses are left exposed in a vaulted ceiling.

A brick floor laid in a herringbone pattern continues out onto the terrace, linking the room to the orchard beyond.
