Lavenham, Suffolk
At the heart of this converted threshing barn, the old cart entrance has become the dining room, with a full height glazed opening looking out over open Suffolk fields.
The original oak frame was cleaned back to a soft silver and left exposed right up into the vaulted roof, with limewashed walls between the timbers. A long refectory table seats twelve beneath three oversized rattan pendants.
Pale oak boards and an old dresser full of stoneware keep the space warm and lived in, even at this scale.
