Louth, Lincolnshire
Under the pantiled roof of this red brick cottage in the Lincolnshire Wolds, a cramped attic has become a peaceful bedroom with views across the fields.
The old roof timbers were left exposed and limewashed, and new conservation rooflights sit between them so the outside of the cottage looks unchanged. The floorboards were painted a soft white to bounce the light around.
A simple iron bed, a rush seated chair and a small window in the gable end keep it feeling like it has always been part of the cottage.
